WHY ?

Roger’s story is one of sorrow and beauty. Growing up, Roger endured physical and mental abuse almost daily at the hands of his father. After seeing a boy abused on the streets of Tenderloin,andbeing frozen in fear seeing this altercation,Roger had to make a choice:shouldhe do something about the brokenness he saw or simply mind his own businessand never go back.Roger chose ACTION. Next morning, Rogerrespondedto the needs he saw by making 50 sandwiches, passing them out to those on the streets ofthe Tenderloin.From the sandwiches to his eventual hunger strike on the steps of City Hall. Roger responded to his calling. The abuse Roger endured as a child did not disqualify himto carefor this community. If anything, it qualified him because he understood their pain.We are living in a time where people have grown too busy or too numb to care for each other. The concept of every man for themselves rules this country and rules this world. We are in need of stories / especially true stories of normal men and women who are willing to show simple gestures of kindness and even extreme measures to care for others / to care for those who are on the fringe of society. The needs are there. In each of our own neighborhoods and workplaces. Do we choose to see them or just look away and just “mind our own business”?​

    胡宇威（George Hu），台灣知名演員、歌手，成長於美國紐約的台裔家庭。他自幼便展現多方面才能，包括武術、中提琴和電吉他的精湛技藝。他擁有聖若望大學文理學院學士學位，於2005年返回台灣展開演藝事業後開始學習中文。迄今為止，他已出演三十多部戲劇作品，並發行了兩張個人EP，成為影視與音樂界廣受歡迎的代表人物。

 George Hu, a Taiwanese actor and singer, grew up in a Taiwanese-American family in New York, USA. From a young age, he demonstrated talents in martial arts, viola, and electric guitar. He holds a bachelor's degree from the St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. After returning to Taiwan in 2005 to start his acting career, he began learning Mandarin. To date, he has appeared in over thirty drama productions and released two personal EPs, becoming a widely recognized figure in the entertainment industry.
